Abstract

Mr. Kadir is one of the earliest craftsmen to have pioneered a business in the production of low-fired ceramics in Kedungsari Village. Kedung Sari Village is located in the western part of Kediri City with the majority of the population working as farmers and some having a profession as pottery craftsmen. Kedung Sari Village has natural resources of land that can be processed into basic ceramic materials that have soil characters with different colors than other areas. Pottery craftsmen in Kedungsari Village related to the resulting production tends to be in the form of daily necessities such as cowek, jugs, cooking stoves and other household utensils. Product designs based on artistic elements in the pottery they create are still not used, so the resulting products tend to be the same as pottery craftsmen in other areas. Therefore, it is necessary to hold Mentoring and training to produce quality artistic pottery works, have higher competitiveness and selling power. The implementation of this mentoring is carried out in 3 stages, including: planning, implementation and evaluation, the subjects of this activity are as many as Craftsmen or home industries. The results of this artistic pottery mentoring activity indicate that the participants' skills and understanding of artistic elements that can be applied to their pottery creations have improved. Furthermore, the mentoring has improved the quality and marketability of the low-fired pottery produced.
